AquaChamps Swim School is a new 24,000 square foot commercial aquatic facility located in the city of Oakland Park, Florida. The project incorporates a 2,300 square foot main building, two handicap accessible outdoor swimming pools, and associated surface parking.
Located at the center of the site, the building is the fulcrum of the facility—a compact and carefully sequenced gateway for visitors to transition from the outside world to a serene outdoor oasis in the form of two large swimming pools, a raised landscaped deck with amphitheater seating, and a grass recreation space.
The building design provides all of the necessary support spaces for the swim school staff and students while integrating the company’s brand. Utilizing a clean palette of white stucco, wood, and stone, the facility is a fresh, modern beacon rising from an industrial fabric. The design also takes contextual queues from the surrounding warehouses by reflecting the rhythm and scale of commercial doors in the three large viewing windows overlooking the swimming pools.
For this project, Ami Dhruva | architecture + design provided full service including the architectural design of the overall site and building, interior design, consultant coordination, construction documents for permitting and bid, and construction administration. Additionally, our graphic design elements, color selections, and signage design for the facility have contributed to the evolution of the company’s brand.
